The fight for the famous Claret Jug begins this weekend as the men's major season reaches its peak with The Open at Royal Birkdale in Merseyside, England.

Scottie Scheffler returns to defend the title he captured last year at Royal Portrush and become the first back-to-back winner of The Open since Padraig Harrington in 2008. The American star will need to improve on last weekend's performance, with the world No. 1 surprisingly missing the cut at the Scottish Open.

Meanwhile, Masters champion Rory McIlroy and British star Tommy Fleetwood are strongly favored by bookmakers to end the USA's recent dominance, given that four of the last five winners have come from America.

NBC holds the US broadcast rights for this year's Open, with coverage split between USA Network, NBC and streaming service Peacock. Featured group coverage is exclusive to Peacock, in addition to several hours of exclusive streaming coverage to start each day of play.
