After the Redmi Note 17 series made its debut in China, rumors now point to a potential new Poco device heading to India and other global markets. A tipster indicates that one model from the Note 17 series might be rebranded for Poco. However, versions for China, India, and worldwide markets are expected to feature minor specification differences, such as varying battery sizes.

Poco M8 Power and Redmi Note 17 Expected Specifications

A post on X by tipster Kacper Skrzypek revealed new references in HyperOS source code suggesting an upcoming Poco smartphone launch in India. The device is believed to have the model number 2602IPC8I, identified in the code as the Poco M8 Power.

Previously, another Poco model with a comparable number appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards certification site in May. The tipster notes that the Poco M8 Power corresponds to a Redmi model with number 26021RN18I, thought to be the standard Redmi Note 17. This suggests the Poco could be a rebranded variant of that phone.

The information also details battery capacities for the international Redmi Note 17 models. The Indian edition is expected to keep the same battery size as the Chinese version, while the global model may come with a reduced 7700mAh battery.

The Chinese Redmi Note 17 features an 8000mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Similar adjustments are anticipated for the Redmi Note 17 Pro. Launched in China with a 9000mAh battery and 67W wired fast charging, its Indian version should match that capacity, but the global variant might have an 8340mAh battery.

Beyond batteries, international Redmi Note 17 models are said to share most specs with Chinese versions, except for a possible 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera instead of the 2-megapixel depth sensor found in the China model.

These claims match earlier reports indicating Xiaomi plans to continue rebranding certain Redmi phones as Poco devices for international markets. Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the global release of the Redmi Note 17 series.
