The enormous demand for tickets to the 2026 World Cup final between Argentina and Spain has broken an unprecedented record in the United States. According to data from the secondary ticket sales platform TickPick, this is the most expensive sporting event ever held in the US in terms of secondary market ticket prices.

At present, the cheapest entry price for the match to be held on Sunday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey stands at 6,943 dollars for a single ticket. The average price of a ticket for one of the world's biggest sporting events currently stands at 11,327 dollars - a new all-time record for a sporting event in the United States.

The final between Argentina, the reigning world champions, and Spain, the European champions, has thus surpassed a series of major sporting events in the United States, including:

Super Bowl 2024 (San Francisco vs Kansas City) - average price of 9,411 dollars.
Super Bowl 2021 (Tampa Bay vs Kansas City) - 7,313 dollars.
