Cap figures continue shifting, so clubs must consider players heading into 2027 free agency. This window allows securing talent before the regular season adds pressure.

Below are single recommended steps for each of the 32 teams to finish their offseasons. These actions, doable in late June or early July, improve immediate and future outlooks. Suggestions include extensions, signings, and trades. Only one destination was chosen for each top remaining free agent.

AFC EAST

Buffalo Bills

Extend right guard O'Cyrus Torrence

The Bills face few major contract expirations after 2026, yet preserving offensive line stability makes sense by retaining Torrence. Though not elite, he posted solid marks last year with ESPN pass block win rate at 93.3 percent (25th) and run block win rate at 74.1 percent (13th). At 26, he remains in peak form.

Miami Dolphins

Trade linebacker Jordyn Brooks

Keeping productive players whose deals end after 2026 offers little value during a rebuild. Brooks might stay, yet a trade yields assets now. He earned first-team All-Pro honors with 183 tackles and 3.5 sacks. A contender needing linebacker help, such as the Bengals or Cowboys, would benefit.

New England Patriots

Extend cornerback Christian Gonzalez

Gonzalez still has two years after the fifth-year option, so an extension is optional. Still, rewarding the top defender makes sense after he missed OTAs over rookie-deal concerns amid rising veteran salaries. New England holds cap room to provide early raises and long-term security.

New York Jets

Sign defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi

The Jets blend youth with veterans on defense. Added depth helps rotation and injury protection. Ogunjobi fits well beside Onyemata and Phillips. The 32-year-old arrives cheaper than his prior $8.3 million half-season deal and brings 3-4 end experience.

AFC NORTH

Baltimore Ravens

Extend quarterback Lamar Jackson

Jackson faces an $84.3 million 2027 cap hit that will not stand. He is not leaving Baltimore. An extension resolves the cap issue before the season starts.

Cincinnati Bengals

Sign linebacker Bobby Okereke

Rookie linebackers struggled last year, leaving room to upgrade. Okereke offers run-stopping strength and leadership at age 30, similar to other veterans but with less decline risk. He also brings strong character, as shown by his Walter Payton award nomination.

Cleveland Browns

Extend safety Grant Delpit

Delpit performs at a high level, ranking seventh in total points saved among safeties. His deal voids after 2026. At 29 in 2027, he remains valuable during a rebuild and provides veteran stability.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Extend cornerback Joey Porter Jr.

Porter reaches the end of his rookie contract without a fifth-year option. He ranked 10th in coverage DVOA last season yet seeks top-five pay. A deal balancing both sides keeps him long term.
