Men

Top seed Jannik Sinner defeated Nuno Borges in three sets to record his 95th Grand Slam win and break the Italian record previously held by Nicola Pietrangeli. Despite some difficult moments especially in the second set he stayed composed and advanced to the third round where he will meet Jenson Brooksby who said ahead of the clash with the defending champion that he never doubts his ability to beat any player.

Felix Auger-Aliassime (3) reached the third round at Wimbledon for the first time since 2021 after a straight-sets victory over Dino Prizmic in a match where he faced no breaks. The Canadian who has dealt with only two break points across his first two matches will next play Michael Zheng who came through qualifying and is on a five-match winning streak.

Novak Djokovic (7) who is seeking an eighth Wimbledon title to match Roger Federer's record will face Arthur Rinderknech (28). After a tough four-set win in the opening round the Serbian eased past Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 6-2 to improve his head-to-head record to 13-2. Rinderknech reached the third round for a second straight year after a clean win over Martin Damm during which he fired 20 aces without facing a break.

Women

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka who has struggled in the first two majors of the year and has never reached a Wimbledon final will seek revenge against Elena Ostapenko. The Latvian upset her in their most recent meeting by winning the 2025 Stuttgart final.

Waiting for the winner is Naomi Osaka (14) who has won the US Open twice and the Australian Open twice but had never advanced past the third round at Wimbledon. Today she achieved that milestone perhaps helped by the traditional all-white outfit she wore throughout the tournament as she defeated Daria Kasatkina (19) convincingly 6-1 6-3. The 28-year-old Osaka improved to 4-0 against Kasatkina has yet to drop a set at the event and became the third Japanese player in the Open era to reach the round of 16 at all four majors following Ai Sugiyama and Kimiko Date.

Jessica Pegula (4) who exited in the second round in 2024 and the first round last year hopes to at least match her best Wimbledon result of the quarterfinals in 2023 and her journey continues after a quick 6-1 6-3 win in 53 minutes over Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro who had impressed against Anastasia Potapova and Diana Shnaider in earlier rounds.

Coco Gauff (7) who has never reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon hopes to finally meet expectations but needed a dramatic comeback against Solana Sierra in the second round and now faces a comfortable on-paper American derby against world No. 146 Claire Liu.
