The deal to purchase Hapoel Nof Hagalil by Eyal Berkovic will not proceed. The former footballer revealed today (Tuesday) in his program with Erel Segal on 103FM that the negotiations collapsed at the last moment due to a financial dispute, and also spoke about the great disappointment of his brother, Nir Berkovic, who was supposed to play a central role in the move.

"Listen to this story," Berkovic said. "They wanted me to take over Nof Hagalil this week - the football club. There is a wonderful mayor there, Ronen Plot. He really loves the city. The deal blew up at the last moment over money. There were some debts there and we did not reach an agreement."

Berkovic revealed that the one who was especially disappointed was his brother Nir, who was slated to serve as coach if the deal had gone through. "Nir is angry that the deal blew up, because most of the deal was supposed to be for him."

He went on to describe the call he received from his sister: "My sister called and told me that Nir is furious. I told her that I prefer Nir to be furious."

Barko explained his position with a smile: "I will tell you the truth - I prefer Nir to be furious for a week or two, rather than my money running out, and then we will all be furious for life."

As a reminder, Berkovic had been conducting advanced talks in recent weeks with the Nof Hagalil municipality to transfer management rights of the club, after having come close to acquiring it in the past. Under the original plan, Nir Berkovic was to stand on the sidelines.

Hapoel Nof Hagalil, which was relegated to Liga A at the end of last season, has not yet begun significant preparations for the upcoming campaign, and fans had hoped that Berkovic's entry would provide the club with stability and pull it out of the stagnation it has been in since the relegation.
