An IDF soldier found guilty of espionage for Iranian forces throughout 2025 received a five-year prison sentence from a military court, as announced by the IDF on Wednesday.

The soldier faced accusations of transmitting sensitive details to Iranian contacts in return for monetary payment, including recordings showing interceptions of Iranian missiles amid the conflict.

Per IDF statements, the soldier obtained multiple Telegram messages proposing cash payments for videos and images containing classified security material.

The videos sent by the soldier included two recordings of intercepting rockets that he captured during Operation Rising Lion, along with additional clips sourced online that depicted missiles striking targets in Israel.

IDF soldier admits contact with foreign agent

The soldier ultimately admitted to maintaining contact with a foreign agent and was taken into custody by security personnel.

Throughout the proceedings, the military court noted that the soldier had refrained from disclosing any IDF-specific data or footage acquired through his military duties.

Beyond the prison term, the soldier was ordered to pay a fine of 1,000 shekels and reduced in rank to Private.
