Updating for competition: Leapmotor is beginning to market the B10 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that joins the all-electric version previously offered. It will compete against the BYD Atto 2 and Deepal S05. Pricing starts at 155,000 shekels, 15,000 shekels above the electric model.

The importer also announced today that the C10 has been reduced by 5,000 shekels and will now start at 165,000 shekels for the base electric version, 180,000 shekels for the long-range version, and 175,000 shekels for the plug-in hybrid.

Gasoline power too: The drivetrain remains similar to the electric version, with a 218-horsepower motor driving the rear wheels. A new 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 88 horsepower is added at the front to charge an 18.8 kWh battery, delivering a theoretical electric range of 86 km.

Uncommonly for the segment, the model also supports 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 30-to-80 percent charge in just half an hour. Combined gasoline and electric range with the 50-liter fuel tank reaches a theoretical 900 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7.5 seconds, half a second quicker than the electric version, while the three-mode regenerative braking system is unchanged.

What else to know: Apart from the powertrain, the car is identical to the electric model except for the absence of a small front storage compartment. The rear trunk is 100 liters smaller at 330 liters and still lacks a spare wheel. Equipment levels match the electric version, including an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.6-inch touchscreen, 360-degree cameras, and a panoramic sunroof. As with the electric model, it lacks power-folding mirrors, rear privacy glass, and rain-sensing wipers.

The higher-spec version at 165,000 shekels adds leatherette upholstery with power seat adjustment, heated and ventilated front seats, and a power tailgate. Safety features include autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and active blind-spot monitoring with door-open warning.

Our take: Although still small by Chinese industry standards, Leapmotor has achieved massive success in recent years, selling nearly 600,000 units in 2025, double the 2024 figure and an impressive result for a brand that sold only about 10,000 cars annually five years ago.

In Israel it has not enjoyed similar success, largely due to an initial focus on an inexpensive city car without advanced safety systems, rapid importer changes, and the launch of a core model without adequate charging capability.

Yet Leapmotor is thriving globally, and that momentum is likely to reach Israel. The B10 plug-in hybrid offers strong sales potential that would be even greater if priced below its rivals.
